High-back arm chairs were the first Windsors produced by American
craftsmen, circa 1760. A tall eighteenth-century Windsor crowned by
a serpentine top crest was usually framed with a one piece steam bent,
U-shaped arm rail. This delicately balanced arm chair can stand alone
or in combination with other chairs to form a set.
